justin edinburgh survived at spurs for years, despite
being not very good ~ just goes to show you, if you keep your head down
and sing the right tune, you can last the distance... funny ~ i bet no-one
remembers when he came, left, where he came from or went to ~ one day
i just noticed he wasn't there any more
so what were his attributes as a footballer? allegedly,
he had desire... i think he was replaced by the 5.5m ben thatcher ~ they
needn't have bothered! put the money in the bank, tottenham, or buy good
footballers...
here he is getting sent of in the 1999 worthington cup
final ~ the ref was conned by robbie savage ~ but maybe it helped the
cause in the end because we won soonish after.

composure, pace, ability to read the game, dependability
~ ramon vega had none of these qualities. arrived in january 1997 for
£3.7m and made spurs fans nervous wrecks for years ~ quickly became
an emblem for the club's underperformance ~ usually found saying stuff
like "i do my talking on the pitch" and then giving away a penalty
a week ~ why did they sign him? you have to wonder.

here he is in his last game for spurs, a 1-1 draw at home to southampton
in 1998. i was there for his first too, a 2-2 draw at home to luton in
1982, where he scored on his debut. what a tottenham thoroughbred!
